Student Conduct

Students should be familiar with the Scriptural Objectives of ACS and should have discussed them with their parents before entering school. These objectives outline standards of conduct and correct attitudes for students attending ACS and its activities.

Loving discipline is essential for a child’s character development and for maintaining order in school. Therefore, our staff will administer discipline as deemed necessary and appropriate and will strive to maintain good communication with the parents. If corporal punishment is considered necessary in a given situation, the teacher or administrator will request the parents to handle the problem. The staff reserves the right to suspend or expel students who consistently fail to properly respond to the school’s disciplinary measures. See Hebrews 12:6; Titus 3:1-2.

Appleton Christian School has adopted a set of Principles of Conduct as a standard of behavior for its students. Students who are unable to maintain these standards will be disciplined through the following means:

  • Parent involvement
  • At-home suspensions
  • Detentions
  • Disciplinary probation
  • In-school suspensions
  • Expulsion

Principles of Conduct

  • I will treat with respect those adults, both teachers and parents that are in authority over me during the school day. This means I will accept judgments and directions, of teachers and parents, with a teachable, humble spirit. Also, I will attempt at all times to have a cooperative attitude. See Isaiah 66:2b; 1 Peter 5:5b; and Scriptural Objective #3.
  • I will respect and uphold the physical and emotional well-being of others. This means there will be no physical violence or unkind words or actions taken against another. Scriptural Objective #4.
  • I will respect the rights of others to learn. This means that I will not make noises or in any other way disturb the atmosphere of the classroom during quiet study times or special instructional times. See Proverbs 25:28 and Philippians 2:4.
  • I will respect the right of others to carry on an undisturbed conversation.
  • I will treat others with courteous behavior. This means I will use my best manners. I will make a special effort to say “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me.” I will try not to walk in front of others or place myself first in line, always considering others more important than myself. See Philippians 2:3 and Scriptural Objective #4.
  • I am accountable for my own actions. This means I will accept the consequences of poor behavior as well as the rewards for good behavior. I will not make excuses or blame others for my actions and responses. It also means that in an effort to reflect the attitudes of Christ, I will seek to do good for others at all times. See 1 Corinthians 10:24 and Romans 14:12.
